Here are 3 simple habits you can apply straight away to create a positive change in your life.
Try to apply these simple habits every day so they become a routine.
Got a better idea that fits your goal? No problem! Just do it.
I just want to point out that taking small steps can produce big results in the long run.
Your day will run a lot more smoothly.
Simple habit number 1.
This simple habit had a huge impact on me. Leave your phone alone for the first and last hour of the day!
Who doesn't grab their phone as soon as the alarm goes off? And scroll through your timeline in bed for a while? Don't!
Why not? Very simple. From the moment you pick up your phone, your day is decided.
You have messages from friends, emails from work and nice photos waiting to be liked.
From that moment you are no longer in control, but already reacting to what others ask of you.
OK, sounds logical, but why not when I'm lying in bed? It's so relaxing.
I'll keep it simple. First, the blue light from your screen. It makes it harder to fall asleep.
While you sleep you also process the past day. This lets your brain rest and makes sure you wake up refreshed. But if you add lots of extra stimuli to your head just before sleeping, that becomes a very heavy process. The result? Waking up tired! We all know what that does to your mood.
Simple habit number 2.
Start your day with meditation.
For those who find this a bit too spiritual: it isn't.
In my view, meditation is nothing more than calming your head, and especially your thoughts.
This makes sure you are in control of what needs to happen at that moment.
You know that feeling of waking up with your head already full.
The plants still need watering, the shopping still needs doing and that quote has to go out today!
The result? Stress from minute 1.
With meditation you are in control. A moment of focus on yourself. Your day will run a lot more smoothly.
Simple habit number 3.
Move before breakfast.
You've been lying still for at least 6 hours. Get the blood flowing through your body. This immediately brings more oxygen and therefore more energy.
I move for at least a quarter of an hour every morning, and it gives me so much strength and energy that I would find it a crime not to.
